Carry-on restrictions for liquids, gels and aerosols
New European regulations concerning restrictions for bringing liquids, gels and aerosols into the cabin.
As of now, during security control, you have to separately present your bottles and tubes (100 milliliters i.e. approx. 3 ½ fl.oz. as a maximum per item) in a closed, transparent plastic bag (such as a freezer bag) that's approx. 20 cm by 20 cm (8 x 8 inches) in size and has a max. capacity of 1 liter (approx. 1 quart). Airports may provide plastic bags, but it is advisable to procure some beforehand.
Products completely forbidden in the cabin are : liquids, aerosols, gels, doughy substances, soft cheeses (type Camembert, Brie and such), solid/liquid mixes, aerosol items under pressure such as toothpaste, hairdressing gells, beverages, soups, syrups, perfumes, shaving foam, lotions, creams, shower gels, shampoos, liquid soap, deodorants, mineral water, mascara and other products of comparable consistency.
Attention : products placed in open or opaque plastic bags, piled up, squeezed together or stacked and those containing more than 100 ml (3 ½ flo.z) will not be allowed through security control.
Authorized exceptions :
- liquid medicines (syrups, insulin, etc.), provided that you are able to present to security personnel an attestation or prescription in your name. No restrictions apply to solid medicines.
- Food items that you must travel with because of food allergies.
- liquid baby food; make sure to take along reclosable containers. You may also be asked to sample these foods.
As a general rule, put all liquids into your checkeed luggage except those products that are absolutely indispensable for you during the flight.
OTHER CARRY-ON RESTRICTIONS
Knives and any other similar items, regardless of blade length or composition, are not allowed on board.
Sharp objects can be transported in checked baggage. These items must be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and other luggage.

Obligations of passengers at Border Control inspection and TSA screening stations
When passing through the inspection and TSA screening lines, passengers must:
- Remove all laptop computers from carry-on luggage
- Remove your jacket, coat and shoes
