Your luggage
L’Avion handles your baggage with the utmost care possible. Nevertheless, we strongly advise that you chose suitcases with a rigid shell and that you carefully wrap your fragile objects. You cannot lock any baggage unless it is with a TSA approved lock.
Allowance
Luggage allowance specifies weight, dimensions and the number of bags that you can check in free of charge. A surcharge will be applicable for anything exceeding these limits. Please refer to the following luggage allowances:
Departing from / arriving to Newark (EWR)
Flights operated by L'Avion
- 2 pieces per person in the cargo hold
- 32 kg (97 lbs) maximum per piece
- the dimension of each bag (length + width + height) must not exceed 158cm (62 inches)
Departing from / arriving to Newark (EWR)
Flights operated by OpenSkies
- 3 pieces per person in the cargo hold
- 23 kg (70 lbs) maximum per piece
- the dimension of each bag (length + width + height) must not exceed 158cm (62 inches)
Excess baggage
If you wish to check more than 2 pieces of baggage, a fee of 125€ (US$165) will be applicable for each additional baggage.
Please note :
- The total maximum luggage weight allowed per passenger is limited to 200 kg (440 lbs)
- You will be informed of the exact amount of the supplement to be paid at check-in
- For security reasons it is essential that no individual baggage weighs more than 32 kg (70 lbs).
Handbags
This concerns baggage that you can carry into the cabin with you. Please equip yourself only with permitted essentials: items of value and/or fragile ones, articles that enhance your flying comfort, and useful or required medicine that you might need available during the flight.
You are entitled to:
- 1 baggage of 115 cm (45 inches) i.e. 55 cm max. length, 35 cm max. width and 25 cm max. depth (21.5 x 13.75 x 10 inches)
- 1 other, smaller bag
- 1 accessory (such as a purse, laptop computer or camera bag)
The total weight of all handbags must not exceed 18 kg (39.5 lbs)
Special baggage
Sports equipment
Important : L’Avion assures the transport as cargo of the following equipment subject to availability of space.
Equipment allowed:
- Bicycles
Make sure to:
- retract the pedals
- dismount the front wheel and attach it to the frame
- turn the handlebar sidewise (parallel to the frame)
- place your bicycle in a protective cover (cardboard, tough plastic, etc.).
- Ski equipment
- Alpine skiing: 1 pair of skis, a pair of ski poles, 1 pair of ski boots
- Snowboard : 1 board and 1 pair of boots
You are encouraged to pack skis and boards into a special cover.
- Sailboard
Make sure to protect the board with a protective wrapping suitable for the purpose. L’Avion does not have at its disposal covers or boxes meant for the transport of sailboards or surfboards.
Allowance of number of bags
The following sports equipment is included in the allowance :
- Bicycles : fee of 125 € (US$ 165) for all equipement or baggage checked in additionally (in addition to the 2 permitted pieces)
- Skiing equipment: outside of the 2 permitted bags, the fee will be 41€ (US$54) for the first piece of equipment with an additional US$165 for any further piece.
- For Golf bags, checked in additionally to the 2 permitted bags, the fee will be 62 € (US$ 82) for the first bag, with additional ones being charged at US$ 165 each.
Transporting sail- or surfboards does not form part of any free allowance.
- Sailboards, provided that the length does not exceed 9 1/3 ft, will receive an additional charge of 62€ (US$ 82) or 125€ (US$ 165) for larger dimensions.
- Surfboards with a length not in excess of 9 1/3 ft will receive an additional charge of 62€ (US$82) or 125€ (US$165) for larger dimensions.

Hazardous Materials
Certain items may be a danger to the heath and safety of travelers and the aircraft. Such items are not permitted on the aircraft and are subject to FAA, TSA and Airline policies.
