Saint Germain’s touch
What makes you a real paryorker? When you work, travelling on business seems a very small thing. With L’Avion, it is again possible without being ripped off.
How did you become one? By going to make a film in New York with Frédéric Beigbeder.
Do you know any other paryorkers? Régis Pagniez, my oldest friend.
How do these two cities contribute to balancing your personal and/or your professional life? I lived for five years in New York, now I prefer Paris.
What’s the difference between the New-Yorker you and the Parisian you? In Paris I eat, in New York I shop.
What do these two cities bring to mind? Alas, in people’s relationships with each other, they are increasingly alike. Paris is a bit like New York without the cash.
What’s your fondest memory of Paris? The Rue Saint Benoît in the 1950s.
What’s the first thing you do when you set foot in Paris? I take my daughter out to the Brasserie Lipp.
And the last one, when you leave? I take my daughter out to the Brasserie Lipp.
Do you have a ritual that’s intimately related to the city? I sit on a terrace and watch people.
What’s the best time of day for you in Paris? 6pm at the Café de Flore.
What excites you about Paris? Pointless conversations.
On the contrary, what annoys you? The politics in general and the strikes in particular.
