New York art world

For you, going to New York means...
...coming back to a familiar landscape, the only city besides Paris in which I could live.

What is your best recollection of New York? December 31, 1994, just after my wedding in Las Vegas.

What about New York appeals to you? The sky.

What annoys you about New York? Indifference.

What is the difference between the Parisian and New Yorker in you? My government ID. It is Parisian.

Who are your New York friends? The art world in general.

Who are the "paryorkers" that you know? Elaine Sturtevant, an artist, and Ezra Petronio, editor-in-chief of Self Service magazine.

What is your favorite time of day in New York and why? Night, where nothing ever stops. Céline wrote that "New York is a city awake."

Do you have a ritual that is closely linked with the city? Eating a hamburger at the Empire Diner.

What is your New York dream? A house in Harlem.
